China Life Insurance (Overseas) Company Limited (a company incorporated in the People's Republic of China) ("the Company") understands its responsibility under the Personal Data Protection Act(Act 8/2005) concerning the collection, holding, processing, or use of personal data. The Company will only collect personal data for lawful and relevant purposes and will take all practicable steps to ensure the accuracy of the personal data it holds. The Company will also take all practicable steps to ensure the security of personal data and to prevent unauthorized or accidental access, deletion, or other use of the data. Providing your personal data is voluntary. Please note that if you do not provide the required personal data, the Company may not be able to provide you with the information, products, or services you request.
In this Privacy Policy ("this Policy"), the following terms shall have the meanings set forth below:
"Company Affiliates" refers to any of the Company’s subsidiaries, any associated companies of the Company, and the Company’s parent company, any subsidiaries of the parent company, and any associated companies of the parent company. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes any companies within the China Life Insurance (Group) Corporation Group (and "Company Affiliates" should be construed accordingly); and "Subsidiary", "Parent Company" and "Company" shall have the meanings set forth in Macau Commercial Code.
1. How does the Company collect your personal data?
The Company will collect and store information you input or upload to the Company’s systems, including but not limited to the Unified Customer Account Platform, the forms from the Company’s official website, the China Life Overseas App, and the smart customer service chatbot. The Company may also obtain personal or non-personal data about you from its affiliates that have been legally collected. When you visit the Company’s website (the “Website”) or the “China Life Overseas” mobile application (the “Application”), the Company may also collect certain information about the device you are currently using.
If you use any social media features or platforms on this Website, the Application, or via a social media provider, the Company may access and collect information about you from the relevant social media provider in accordance with its policies. While using social media features, the Company may access the personal profiles or account data you choose to provide, including but not limited to your name, gender, phone number, date of birth, facial images, or ID photo information, email address, address, location, etc. Depending on your privacy settings with the relevant social media provider, you may restrict or block the Company’s access to this information.
2. How does the Company use your personal data?
The purposes for which the Company may use your personal data depend on the nature of your relationship with the Company as a data subject.
If you are a customer of the Company, the Company may need to use your personal data for the following purposes:
- offering, providing and marketing to you the products/services of the Company, Company Affiliates, or the Company’s co-branding partners (see below "Use of Personal Data for Direct Marketing"), and administering, maintaining, managing and operating such products/services;
- processing and evaluating any applications or requests made by you for products/services offered by the Company or its Affiliates;
- providing you with follow-up services (including but not limited to health assessments and/or health management services) and administering issued policies, including additions, alterations, variations, cancellations, renewals, or reinstatements;
- any purposes in connection with any claims made by or against or involving you or other claimants regarding any products/services provided by the Company and/or its Affiliates, including investigating claims, detecting, and preventing fraud (whether or not relating to the policy issued in respect of the application);
- evaluating your financial needs;
- designing new or enhancing existing products/services for the Company or its Affiliates;
- conducting market or actuarial research for statistical or similar purposes undertaken by the Company and/or its Affiliates, the financial services sector, or our respective regulators;
- reviewing and investigating any data held by the Company and related to you for any purposes outlined in this Policy;
- complying with any applicable, existing, current, or future laws, rules, regulations, codes of practice, or guidelines, or assisting with law enforcement purposes, investigations by law enforcement agencies or other government or regulatory authorities in Macau or elsewhere;
- conducting identity and/or credit checks and/or debt collection;
- carrying out any services related to the Company’s business operations;
- sending out administrative communications regarding any accounts you may have with the Company or about future updates to the Company’s Personal Information Collection Statement;
- conducting all necessary due diligence procedures in accordance with the automatic exchange of financial account information provisions under the Legal Regime for the Exchange of Tax Information (Act 5/2017) and Amendment to the Legal Regime for the Exchange of Tax Information (Act 1/2022) ;
- all other purposes as notified at the time of collection; and
- all other purposes relating to any of the above.
3. Whom does the Company share your personal data with?
Personal data will be kept confidential but, subject to the provisions of any applicable laws, may be provided to:
- any of our Company Affiliates;
- any individuals related to claims made by or against you or other claimants involving the Company’s or its Affiliates’ products/services (including private investigators and claims investigators);
- any agents, contractors, or third parties providing administrative, technical, data processing, telecommunications, computer, payment, debt collection, call center, or direct marketing services to the Company or its Affiliates concerning products/services provided by the Company or its Affiliates;
- any other companies assisting the Company in collecting your data or contacting you, such as research firms, credit reference agencies, or debt collection companies (in case of default);
- any actual or proposed assignees, transferees, participants, or sub-participants of the Company’s rights or business;
- any law enforcement agencies, government departments, or other appropriate government or regulatory bodies to whom the Company and/or its Affiliates are legally obligated to make disclosures (transferred data may be passed on to law enforcement agencies, government departments, or regulatory bodies in other jurisdictions);
- any industry associations or federations of financial service providers; and
- Any individuals or entities involved in preventing and detecting insurance fraud, such as insurance adjusters, agents and brokers, employers, medical and healthcare professionals, hospitals, accountants, financial advisors, lawyers, fraud prevention organizations, other insurance companies (directly or through fraud prevention organizations or other persons mentioned in this section), and databases or registers (and their operators)used and maintained by the insurance industry (and their operators) for analyzing and checking the data provided against existing information.
Your personal data may be disclosed to any of the above entities, which may be located in or outside Macau. In this regard, you consent to the transfer of your personal data outside of Macau.
Your personal data will only be transferred for one or more of the relevant purposes set out above.
4. Use of Personal Data for Direct Marketing:
The Company intends to:
- use your name, contact details, product and service portfolio information, transaction patterns and behavior, financial background, and demographic data to conduct direct marketing;

conduct direct marketing in relation to the following categories of products and services from the
Company, Company Affiliates, and the Company’s co-branded partners (including rewards, customer, or
membership benefit programs):
- insurance, annuities, banking, wealth management, retirement plans, investments, financial services, credit cards, securities, and related products and services; and
- health, wellness and medical, food and beverage, sporting activities, memberships, and other related products and services.

The above products and services may be provided by the Company and/or the following entities:
- any of our Company Affiliates;
- third-party financial institutions;
- the Company, and our co-branding partners providing the products and services listed in clause 2 of this part;
- third-party reward, loyalty or privileges programme providers; and
- external service providers supporting the Company or any of the entities listed above in providing the products and services mentioned in clause 2 of this part.
- In addition to marketing the above products and services, the Company also intends to share the personal data described in section 1 of this part with the entities listed in section 3 for marketing those products and services.
- The Company must obtain your written consent (including an indication of no objection) before using your data for any promotional or marketing purposes or sharing it with third parties.
5. How do I opt out of direct marketing?
You may withdraw your consent for the Company to use your personal data for direct marketing or to provide your data to third parties for direct marketing at any time. The Company will stop using such data for direct marketing without any charge. To withdraw your consent, please contact the Company(contact details are provided below).
6. How can I access and correct my personal data?
Under the Personal Data Protection Act(Act 8/2005), you have the right to ascertain whether the Company holds your personal data, correct any inaccuracies, and learn about the Company’s policies and practices in relation to personal data. You may also request the Company to inform you of the types of personal data held by the Company.

The Company has the right to charge a reasonable fee for the processing of any data request to offset the administrative and actual costs incurred by the Company in carrying out your data access request.
7. What are cookies, and how does the Company use cookies?
In order to provide you with the most convenient online service, the Company may sometimes use "cookies."
